Description

A comforting one-dish meal featuring layers of savory beef, creamy mushrooms, and fluffy mashed potatoes—a perfect family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef alongside the chopped onion until the meat is fully cooked. Make sure to drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms into the skillet and sauté until they become tender.
  4. Stir in the beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, mixing well to combine.
  5. Layer the beef mixture into a baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  6. On top of the beef mixture, dollop the prepared mashed potatoes, smoothing them out.
  7. Generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.
  8. Pop the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling delectably.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy your hearty Amish Hamburger Steak Bake with family and friends!
