A flavorful dish with tender chicken in a zesty orange sauce, perfect for busy evenings or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Green onions, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- Place the chicken in the slow cooker and pour the orange sauce over the top.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. Mix cornstarch with a little water to thicken the sauce if desired.
- Return the shredded chicken to the cooker, stir to combine, and let it cook for an additional 15-30 minutes on high.
- Serve topped with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. For optimal flavor, use fresh juice over bottled.
