Description

A flavorful dish with tender chicken in a zesty orange sauce, perfect for busy evenings or gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Place the chicken in the slow cooker and pour the orange sauce over the top.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  4. Remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. Mix cornstarch with a little water to thicken the sauce if desired.
  5. Return the shredded chicken to the cooker, stir to combine, and let it cook for an additional 15-30 minutes on high.
  6. Serve topped with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. For optimal flavor, use fresh juice over bottled.
