Description

A classic comfort dish featuring ground beef in a rich, creamy sauce served over egg noodles or rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Egg noodles or rice (to serve)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and mushrooms.
  3. Once the mushrooms are tender, sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir to combine, cooking for another minute.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Reduce heat and mix in the sour cream, ensuring everything is well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider browning your beef with olive oil. Add crushed red pepper flakes for heat. Use Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
