A delightful twist on a classic meatloaf, combining the rich flavors of French onion soup with hearty ground beef and melted Swiss cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1/2 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup French onion soup (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, French onion soup mix, shredded Swiss cheese, milk, egg, and season with salt and pepper.
- Mix all these ingredients until thoroughly combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
- Pour the remaining French onion soup over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until it’s cooked through (an internal temperature of 160°F or 70°C).
- Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into the loaf and serving hot.
Notes
For a leaner option, substitute ground turkey. Use cheddar cheese instead of Swiss if preferred. Allow beef to reach room temperature before mixing to ensure easy combining.
