Description

A delightful twist on a classic meatloaf, combining the rich flavors of French onion soup with hearty ground beef and melted Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup French onion soup (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, French onion soup mix, shredded Swiss cheese, milk, egg, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix all these ingredients until thoroughly combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
  5. Pour the remaining French onion soup over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until it’s cooked through (an internal temperature of 160°F or 70°C).
  7. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into the loaf and serving hot.

Notes

For a leaner option, substitute ground turkey. Use cheddar cheese instead of Swiss if preferred. Allow beef to reach room temperature before mixing to ensure easy combining.
