Description

A satisfying chicken dish with a robust black pepper sauce that balances heat and savory flavors, perfect for family dinners or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons freshly cracked black pepper
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thinly
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water or chicken broth
  • Green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, mix the chicken with soy sauce and half of the black pepper. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with water or broth and remaining black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  3. Cook the chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken pieces and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, add garlic, onion, and bell pepper. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
  5. Combine and finish: Return chicken to skillet, pour in the sauce, and stir well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  6. Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Pair with steamed rice or fresh salad. Adjust black pepper based on heat preference.
