Description
Delightful cheesy mushroom puff pastry bites that are perfect as appetizers for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets
- 2 cups mushrooms, chopped (button or cremini)
- 1 cup cheese (cheddar, cream cheese, or your favorite)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add diced onions, and sauté until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and chopped mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms soften.
- Season with salt and pepper, then remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Stir in chosen cheese until creamy and well-combined.
- Roll out puff pastry sheets and cut into 4-inch squares.
- Place a spoonful of mushroom filling in the center of each square.
- Cut the puff pastry into squares and gently press each piece into a greased muffin tin to form small cups. Spoon the mushroom filling into each pastry cup.
- Brush tops with beaten egg.
- Arrange on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, experiment with different cheeses and add fresh herbs.
