Description

Delightful cheesy mushroom puff pastry bites that are perfect as appetizers for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry sheets
  • 2 cups mushrooms, chopped (button or cremini)
  • 1 cup cheese (cheddar, cream cheese, or your favorite)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add diced onions, and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and chopped mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms soften.
  4. Season with salt and pepper, then remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  5. Stir in chosen cheese until creamy and well-combined.
  6. Roll out puff pastry sheets and cut into 4-inch squares.
  7. Place a spoonful of mushroom filling in the center of each square.
  8. Cut the puff pastry into squares and gently press each piece into a greased muffin tin to form small cups. Spoon the mushroom filling into each pastry cup.
  9. Brush tops with beaten egg.
  10. Arrange on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, experiment with different cheeses and add fresh herbs.
