Description

A delightful blend of chicken sausage, broccoli, and orzo pasta creates a wholesome meal that balances nutrition and taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken sausage (sliced)
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 4 cups chicken broth (low-sodium)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the broccoli florets and cook for another 3 minutes, until the broccoli is bright green.
  3. Add the orzo, garlic powder, red pepper flakes (if using), and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Cover and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is al dente and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  5. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and serve with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Notes

Serve with a green salad and drizzle fresh lemon juice for extra flavor. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
