Description
A delightful blend of chicken sausage, broccoli, and orzo pasta creates a wholesome meal that balances nutrition and taste.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken sausage (sliced)
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- 4 cups chicken broth (low-sodium)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the broccoli florets and cook for another 3 minutes, until the broccoli is bright green.
- Add the orzo, garlic powder, red pepper flakes (if using), and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Cover and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is al dente and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and serve with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Notes
Serve with a green salad and drizzle fresh lemon juice for extra flavor. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
