Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced
- 1 cup orzo
- 2 cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
- 4 cups chicken broth
- Olive oil, for sautéing
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Add the orzo to the skillet and stir well to coat in the sausage and garlic mixture.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cover, allowing the orzo to cook for about 10 minutes.
- Once the orzo is al dente, stir in the broccoli florets. Cover and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of broth or water to maintain moisture.
