Description

A comforting dish featuring chicken sausage, fresh broccoli, and tender orzo, perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced
  • 1 cup orzo
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • Olive oil, for sautéing
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the orzo to the skillet and stir well to coat in the sausage and garlic mixture.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cover, allowing the orzo to cook for about 10 minutes.
  5. Once the orzo is al dente, stir in the broccoli florets. Cover and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is tender.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of broth or water to maintain moisture.
