Description

Festive pastry rolls filled with herby sausage meat, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage meat
  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (such as thyme or rosemary)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry until it’s smooth.
  3. Cut the pastry into rectangles, about 4×6 inches each.
  4. In a bowl, combine the sausage meat with dried herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  5. Take a spoonful of the sausage mixture and place it at one end of each pastry rectangle.
  6. Roll the pastry around the sausage fill to create logs, sealing the edges with the beaten egg.
  7. Arrange the sausage rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the tops with the remaining beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls turn golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, use turkey sausage or whole wheat pastry sheets. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
