Description

A delightful combination of classic apple pie and the sweet, soft texture of cinnamon rolls, perfect for any family gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 21oz can apple pie filling
  • 1 package cinnamon rolls with frosting (refrigerated)
  • 4 medium apples (peeled, cored, and chopped or sliced)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (plus 1 teaspoon)
  • 2 tablespoons water


Instructions

  1. In a medium pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped or sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and 3 tablespoons of water. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the apples soften slightly.
  3. Stir in the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the filling thickens. Remove from heat.
  4. Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the cinnamon rolls.
  5. In a 9-inch pie pan, spread the apple pie filling evenly.
  6. Take the cinnamon rolls and unroll them slightly. Place the rolls on top of the apple filling, covering it completely.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven according to package instructions for the cinnamon rolls, usually around 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Once the pie is out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes. Drizzle the included frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls for extra sweetness. Slice the pie and serve it warm.

Notes

For a crisper topping, bake the cinnamon rolls for a few extra minutes. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
