Description
A delightful combination of classic apple pie and the sweet, soft texture of cinnamon rolls, perfect for any family gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 21oz can apple pie filling
- 1 package cinnamon rolls with frosting (refrigerated)
- 4 medium apples (peeled, cored, and chopped or sliced)
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (plus 1 teaspoon)
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- In a medium pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped or sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and 3 tablespoons of water. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the apples soften slightly.
- Stir in the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the filling thickens. Remove from heat.
- Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the cinnamon rolls.
- In a 9-inch pie pan, spread the apple pie filling evenly.
- Take the cinnamon rolls and unroll them slightly. Place the rolls on top of the apple filling, covering it completely.
- Bake in the preheated oven according to package instructions for the cinnamon rolls, usually around 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once the pie is out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes. Drizzle the included frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls for extra sweetness. Slice the pie and serve it warm.
Notes
For a crisper topping, bake the cinnamon rolls for a few extra minutes. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
