Description

A comforting and easy-to-make meatloaf that brings family together around the table.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, 1/4 cup of ketchup, onion, bell pepper, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well blended.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a loaf pan.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar and the remaining ketchup to create a glaze. Spread this evenly over the meatloaf.
  5. Bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  6. Once cooked, let it rest for several minutes before slicing. Serve alongside your favorite mashed potatoes and veggies.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a spoonful of Dijon mustard to the meat mixture. Letting the meatloaf rest before slicing enhances flavor and moistness.
