- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for glaze)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, 1/4 cup of ketchup, onion, bell pepper, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well blended.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a loaf pan.
- In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar and the remaining ketchup to create a glaze. Spread this evenly over the meatloaf.
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Once cooked, let it rest for several minutes before slicing. Serve alongside your favorite mashed potatoes and veggies.
Notes
For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a spoonful of Dijon mustard to the meat mixture. Letting the meatloaf rest before slicing enhances flavor and moistness.
