Ingredients
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef (80/20)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup ketchup (divided)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan, or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion until it’s translucent, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed onions, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and half of the ketchup. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in your prepared pan or on the baking sheet.
- Spread the remaining ketchup evenly on top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
You can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Whole wheat breadcrumbs can be used for a healthier twist.
