Description

A comforting and budget-friendly classic meatloaf recipe that evokes childhood memories and family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and Worcestershire sauce until blended.
  3. In another small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mince the onion finely.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, egg mixture, breadcrumb mixture, and minced onion. Mix everything until evenly combined; be careful not to overmix.
  6. Transfer the mixture onto a rimmed baking dish and shape it into a loaf.
  7. In a separate small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard for the glaze. Spread it over the meatloaf.
  8. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  9. Rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
