Description

A hearty and comforting classic meatloaf recipe that’s easy to make and perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup finely diced yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk, letting them sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and parsley to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix well.
  4. Gently incorporate ground beef into the mixture, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Transfer the mixture to your prepared pan, shaping it gently.
  6. Prepare the glaze by whisking ketchup, brown sugar, and dry mustard. Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.
  7. Bake for 50 minutes. Add remaining glaze and continue baking for another 20 to 25 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with extra parsley if desired.

Notes

This meatloaf can be customized with various seasonings and side dishes. For a smoky flair, consider adding BBQ sauce or Italian seasoning for a twist.
