A flavorful chicken dish featuring juicy chicken breasts topped with crispy bacon, melty cheddar cheese, and rich barbecue sauce. Ideal for quick weeknight meals.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 slices bacon
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon for about 5-7 minutes until crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease and crumble.
- Rub both sides of chicken breasts with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat a large oven-safe skillet on medium-high until hot, add chicken and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Chop green onions and prepare the barbecue sauce while chicken cooks.
- Once seared, reduce heat to medium and pour barbecue sauce over chicken.
- Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
- Transfer skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, garnish with green onions and optional red pepper flakes. Let rest before serving.
Notes
For a crispier topping, broil for the last 1-2 minutes of baking. Marinate the chicken in barbecue sauce for deeper flavor.
