Description

A flavorful chicken dish featuring juicy chicken breasts topped with crispy bacon, melty cheddar cheese, and rich barbecue sauce. Ideal for quick weeknight meals.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon for about 5-7 minutes until crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease and crumble.
  3. Rub both sides of chicken breasts with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Heat a large oven-safe skillet on medium-high until hot, add chicken and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Chop green onions and prepare the barbecue sauce while chicken cooks.
  6. Once seared, reduce heat to medium and pour barbecue sauce over chicken.
  7. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
  8. Transfer skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven, garnish with green onions and optional red pepper flakes. Let rest before serving.

Notes

For a crispier topping, broil for the last 1-2 minutes of baking. Marinate the chicken in barbecue sauce for deeper flavor.
