Description

Crispy cream cheese wontons filled with a creamy savory mixture, perfect as an appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 20-24 wonton wrappers
  • Oil, for frying
  • Optional: dipping sauce (sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Mix until smooth and well-blended.
  2. Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean, dry surface. Place a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrappers with water. Fold them in half diagonally to create a triangle and press the edges firmly to seal.
  4. In a deep skillet or pot, heat oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully place the filled wontons in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding, for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  6. Drain the fried wontons on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

For a lighter option, swap cream cheese with ricotta or a dairy-free alternative. For perfectly sealed wontons, work on a dry surface to prevent sticking.
