A comforting beef stroganoff recipe combining tender beef, creamy sauce, and earthy mushrooms, perfect for weeknight dinners and gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, warm up the pan over medium heat, then add the ground beef. Cook until it’s richly browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Toss in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is soft, around 3-4 minutes.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan, cooking until they’re tender.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir to combine.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring continuously as it thickens. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Lower the heat and gently fold in the sour cream, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over warm egg noodles or rice and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
For extra flavor, brown the beef in batches. Substitute ground beef with lentils for a vegetarian version.
