Description

A hearty pasta dish featuring rigatoni enveloped in a creamy sauce with Italian sausage, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz rigatoni pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish


Instructions

  1. Cook rigatoni according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Once browned, add the diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  4. Stir in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Gradually add the heavy cream, mixing until combined.
  5. Incorporate the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning, stirring until the cheese melts and forms a creamy sauce.
  6. Mix in the drained rigatoni, tossing to evenly coat the pasta in the sauce. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
  7. Allow it to simmer for an additional 2–3 minutes before removing from heat.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a splash of white wine when sautéing the onions. For a vegetarian option, substitute the sausage with a plant-based alternative.
