Description

A flavorful pasta dish combining garlic and crushed tomatoes for a comforting meal that pleases a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta of your choice (spaghetti or penne)
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried basil (or fresh)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, ensuring it doesn’t burn.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, followed by dried basil, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat and mix in the heavy cream, stirring until well combined and heated through.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat thoroughly.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, consider roasting the garlic before adding it to the dish. Adjust creaminess by using half-and-half for a lighter option.
