Description

A delightful breakfast treat with a crisp, caramelized exterior and a rich, lush center.

Ingredients

  • Thick slices of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk or cream
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Butter for cooking
  • Topping (such as caramelized sugar or powdered sugar)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  3. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add the soaked bread slices.
  4. Cook until golden brown on both sides, gently flipping as needed.
  5. For added caramelization, sprinkle sugar on the cooked side just before flipping for the final touch.
  6. Once perfectly browned, transfer the slices to a plate and repeat with the remaining bread.

Notes

Serve warm with powdered sugar or syrup. Pairs well with fresh fruits or yogurt.
