Ingredients
- Thick slices of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
- 4 Eggs
- 1 cup Milk or cream
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- Butter for cooking
- Topping (such as caramelized sugar or powdered sugar)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add the soaked bread slices.
- Cook until golden brown on both sides, gently flipping as needed.
- For added caramelization, sprinkle sugar on the cooked side just before flipping for the final touch.
- Once perfectly browned, transfer the slices to a plate and repeat with the remaining bread.
Notes
Serve warm with powdered sugar or syrup. Pairs well with fresh fruits or yogurt.
