Description
Butter Chicken is a beloved Indian dish featuring tender chicken in a rich, creamy sauce made with aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken breasts or thighs, diced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup heavy cream or coconut milk (for a dairy-free option)
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp turmeric
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- In your crockpot, add the diced chicken, onion, garlic, and tomato sauce.
- Toss in the butter along with all the spices, mixing everything well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated.
- Cover the crockpot and set it to low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours. When done, the chicken should be tender and effortlessly shred apart.
- Stir in the heavy cream and lemon juice, allowing the dish to cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve warm over steamed rice or with soft naan.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in spices and yogurt for a few hours before cooking. Adjust spice levels to your preference.
