Description

A comforting Italian meatloaf with vibrant flavors, combining ground beef, mozzarella, and marinara sauce for a nostalgic twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/3 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 cup pasta sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded and divided)
  • 1 whole large egg (slightly beaten)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, Italian seasoned bread crumbs, grated parmesan, minced garlic, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, basil, parsley, 1/2 cup of marinara sauce, 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella, and the beaten egg. Mix gently until everything is well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf, approximately 1 inch thick and 8 inches long, then place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatloaf for 35 to 40 minutes.
  5. After baking, spread the remaining marinara sauce over the top, sprinkle with the rest of the mozzarella cheese, and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a leaner option, ground turkey can be used. Allow leftovers to cool before refrigerating to maintain taste.
