A delightful breakfast dish combining French toast with sweet blueberries, perfect for family gatherings and brunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of challah or brioche bread, cubed
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Layer half of the bread cubes in a greased baking dish, followed by half the blueberries.
  4. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread layers, then repeat the process with the remaining bread and blueberries.
  5. Pour the rest of the egg mixture over the top, ensuring everything is well-soaked.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving.
