A delightful breakfast dish combining French toast with sweet blueberries, perfect for family gatherings and brunch.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of challah or brioche bread, cubed
- 1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Layer half of the bread cubes in a greased baking dish, followed by half the blueberries.
- Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread layers, then repeat the process with the remaining bread and blueberries.
- Pour the rest of the egg mixture over the top, ensuring everything is well-soaked.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with maple syrup and powdered sugar. Can be paired with bacon or a side of fresh fruit.
