Description

A crowd-pleasing slow cooker dish that brings together sweet, savory, and tangy flavors, perfect for weeknight dinners or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water (for slurry)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and optional red pepper flakes.
  2. Place the chicken in the bottom of the slow cooker and pour the sauce evenly over the chicken.
  3. Cover and set the slow cooker to low heat for 4-6 hours until the chicken is tender.
  4. After cooking, combine cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry, then stir it into the slow cooker.
  5. Increase the heat to high and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Shred the chicken in the slow cooker or serve it whole, drizzled with the honey garlic glaze.
  7. Top with sliced green onions, cilantro, or toasted sesame seeds, if desired.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
