Ingredients
- 2 to 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1/2 cup honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
- 1 to 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water (for slurry)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and optional red pepper flakes.
- Place the chicken in the bottom of the slow cooker and pour the sauce evenly over the chicken.
- Cover and set the slow cooker to low heat for 4-6 hours until the chicken is tender.
- After cooking, combine cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry, then stir it into the slow cooker.
- Increase the heat to high and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Shred the chicken in the slow cooker or serve it whole, drizzled with the honey garlic glaze.
- Top with sliced green onions, cilantro, or toasted sesame seeds, if desired.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
