Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or other cooking oil)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 pound ground beef (or a meat alternative such as mushrooms or lentils)
- 1 cup cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 cup vegetables (like bell peppers or spinach)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to activate for about 5 minutes.
- Mix in the olive oil, salt, and flour gradually, forming a soft dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Meanwhile, prepare the filling by cooking the ground beef in a skillet until browned. Add chopped vegetables and cook until tender.
- Roll out the dough, then cut it into squares. Place a spoonful of filling and cheese in each square and pinch to seal.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet and let them rise for an additional 20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For an extra touch, brush the rolls with melted butter or an egg wash before baking. You can prepare the filling a day in advance.
