Description

A warm, inviting dish that transforms leftover croissants into a delicious baked custard perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 4 croissants (stale or fresh)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Optional: fresh berries or chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Tear the croissants into pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and nutmeg until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the croissant pieces, pressing them gently to soak.
  5. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden and set.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute almond milk or oat milk. This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
