Description

A comforting slow-cooked chicken dish infused with vibrant Mediterranean flavors, perfect for family gatherings or cozy nights.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 jar of marinara sauce (24 oz)
  • 1 cup of sliced bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Start by placing the chicken breasts at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken.
  3. Add the sliced bell peppers, onion, and minced garlic.
  4. Sprinkle the oregano and basil evenly on top, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and set it to low for about 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  6. Once cooked, shred the chicken using two forks, mixing it with the sauce before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider browning the chicken breasts before slow cooking and ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F for safe eating.
