Description

Delightful edible Christmas trees crafted from flaky puff pastry, layered with savory ham and ooey-gooey cheese, perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 12 slices of deli ham (thinly sliced)
  • 12 slices of cheese (cheddar, gouda, Swiss, or mozzarella)
  • 24 wooden skewers
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Sprinkle of sesame or poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lay out one sheet of puff pastry on a flat surface. Begin layering with cheese slices, followed by ham slices. Top with the second sheet of pastry and press down lightly.
  3. Using a sharp knife, slice the assembled pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
  4. Take each pastry strip and fold it back and forth onto a skewer to resemble a Christmas tree shape.
  5. In a bowl, mix melted butter, garlic, and parsley. Brush this mixture over each tree.
  6. Place the skewers on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the trees are puffy and golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

For an added touch of flavor, spread a thin layer of honey mustard or fig jam under the cheese. Use star-shaped cheese cutouts on top for a decorative effect.
