Description

A classic comfort food featuring tender beef patties smothered in rich gravy, perfect for family gatherings and weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp flour (for thickening the gravy)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt, pepper, and preferred herbs (e.g., thyme or parsley)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, half of the chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings. Form the mixture into patties.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of oil. Sear the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  3. Remove the patties and set them aside. In the same skillet, melt butter and add the remaining onion, cooking until softened.
  4. Sprinkle flour into the skillet and whisk for about a minute. Gradually add beef broth, stirring to combine, until the gravy thickens.
  5. Return the patties to the skillet, coating them with the gravy and allowing them to simmer for a few minutes.

Notes

For juicy patties, don’t overwork the meat. Use a meat thermometer for proper doneness; 160°F is ideal for ground beef.
