Description

A comforting dish combining tender beef with fluffy dumplings, perfect for family gatherings and cozy weekends.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of beef chuck, cut into pieces
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 4 cups of beef broth
  • 2 cups of carrots, sliced
  • 2 cups of potatoes, diced
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the pieces of beef over medium heat until seared on all sides.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, stirring until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Pour in the beef broth, followed by carrots and potatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil.
  4. Reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer for about 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
  5. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually mix in the milk until a soft dough forms.
  6. Once the beef is tender, drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the simmering stew. Cover and cook for an additional 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

For maximum flavor, sear the beef until it’s richly browned before adding the liquid. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
