Description

A unique twist on classic sloppy joes featuring ground beef and caramelized onions for an elevated flavor experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Burger buns for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the sliced onions to the skillet, cooking them on low until they become soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir until combined. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
  7. Spoon the mix onto burger buns and serve warm.

Notes

For an extra touch, try adding a splash of red wine while cooking the onions. Adjust the garlic quantity to your taste, and add herbs for extra depth.
