Description

A nostalgic and hearty ground beef sandwich recipe, perfect for gatherings or a quiet night in.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hamburger buns (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain off excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Mix well.
  4. Season with salt and pepper, then reduce heat. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve the meat mixture on hamburger buns, ensuring each is generously filled.

Notes

Consider pairing the sandwiches with crispy coleslaw or sweet potato fries. For a gluten-free option, try lettuce wraps or portobello mushrooms.
