Description

Transform fresh fruit into homemade jam with this simple recipe that highlights seasonal flavors and is perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 packet pectin (optional for thicker jam)

Instructions

  1. Wash the fruit thoroughly, removing any stems or blemishes. Mash the fruit into a chunky puree using a fork or potato masher.
  2. In a pot, mix the mashed fruit with sugar and lemon juice. If using pectin, add it now.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Let it bubble for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens.
  4. To check readiness, place a spoonful of the mixture on a plate; if it spreads when cooled, it’s ready.
  5. Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars and seal tightly.
  6. Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate or process in a water bath for long-term storage.

Notes

Store jam in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or process in a water bath for longer storage.
