Ingredients
- 2 to 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1/2 cup honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
- 1 to 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water (for the slurry)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Place the chicken in the bottom of your slow cooker and pour the prepared sauce evenly over the top.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 4 to 6 hours, or until the chicken is tender.
- Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Stir into the slow cooker and increase the temperature to high.
- Cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the shredded chicken drizzled with the thickened honey garlic glaze.
Notes
For richer flavor, marinate chicken in sauce for a few hours before cooking. This recipe can be customized with additional ingredients such as bell peppers or teriyaki sauce.
