Description

Simple, tender Instant Pot Black Eyed Peas made with just three ingredients. A quick, hands-off way to cook protein-packed peas for sides, bowls, salads, or classic Southern meals.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried black-eyed peas
  • 4 cups water or broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste


Instructions

  1. Rinse black-eyed peas under cold water, discarding any debris.
  2. Add peas, water or broth, and salt to the Instant Pot. Stir.
  3. Secure the lid and set the valve to Sealing.
  4. Cook on High Pressure for 9 minutes.
  5. Let pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick-release the remaining pressure.
  6. Open the lid, stir, taste, and adjust seasoning. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use broth instead of water for extra flavor.
  • For softer peas, increase cook time by 1–2 minutes.
  • Add aromatics like onion, garlic, bay leaf, or spices for a more complex flavor.
