Description
Simple, tender Instant Pot Black Eyed Peas made with just three ingredients. A quick, hands-off way to cook protein-packed peas for sides, bowls, salads, or classic Southern meals.
Ingredients
- 1 cup dried black-eyed peas
- 4 cups water or broth
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Instructions
- Rinse black-eyed peas under cold water, discarding any debris.
- Add peas, water or broth, and salt to the Instant Pot. Stir.
- Secure the lid and set the valve to Sealing.
- Cook on High Pressure for 9 minutes.
- Let pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick-release the remaining pressure.
- Open the lid, stir, taste, and adjust seasoning. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use broth instead of water for extra flavor.
- For softer peas, increase cook time by 1–2 minutes.
- Add aromatics like onion, garlic, bay leaf, or spices for a more complex flavor.
- Refrigerate leftovers up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months. Reheat with a splash of liquid.
