Ingredients
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- Activate the yeast in warm milk with a bit of sugar, allowing it to foam for about 5 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and a pinch of salt. Pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Prepare the almond topping by melting butter in a saucepan and mixing in sugar, honey, and sliced almonds.
- Spread the risen dough into a baking dish, pour the almond mixture on top, and bake until golden brown.
- While the cake cools, whip the heavy cream with vanilla until soft peaks form. Slice the cake horizontally and fill it with the cream once cooled.

For gluten-free options, substitute regular flour with a gluten-free blend. Add cinnamon to the cream for extra flavor.
