Description

An Italian take on the classic meatloaf with savory herbs, garlic, and marinara sauce, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, eggs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix everything until well combined. Don’t overwork the meat; gentle handling will keep the meatloaf tender.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
  5. Generously spread marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf, ensuring it’s well-covered.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) when tested with a thermometer.
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to retain its juices.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the meat mixture. You can also use lentils for a vegetarian version.
