Description
An Italian take on the classic meatloaf with savory herbs, garlic, and marinara sauce, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, eggs, salt, and pepper.
- Mix everything until well combined. Don’t overwork the meat; gentle handling will keep the meatloaf tender.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
- Generously spread marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf, ensuring it’s well-covered.
- Bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) when tested with a thermometer.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to retain its juices.
Notes
For a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the meat mixture. You can also use lentils for a vegetarian version.
