Description

A rich and moist chocolate cake perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, or any special gathering.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with vinegar as a substitute)
  • 1 cup hot water


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Add the dry mixture alternately with buttermilk, then stir in the hot water until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.

Notes

To ensure your cake rises perfectly, measure your flour accurately and let eggs and buttermilk reach room temperature.
