Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with vinegar as a substitute)
- 1 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add the dry mixture alternately with buttermilk, then stir in the hot water until combined.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.
