Description

A classic meatloaf recipe that combines savory beef with a sweet brown sugar glaze, perfect for family gatherings and cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, gently mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Take care not to overmix.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce for the glaze.
  5. Carefully spread half of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove it from the oven, spread the remaining glaze over the meatloaf, and return it to the oven for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground beef with lean ground turkey. Gluten-free variations can use crushed gluten-free crackers instead of breadcrumbs.
