A classic meatloaf recipe that combines savory beef with a sweet brown sugar glaze, perfect for family gatherings and cozy dinners.
Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, gently mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Take care not to overmix.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce for the glaze.
- Carefully spread half of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove it from the oven, spread the remaining glaze over the meatloaf, and return it to the oven for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground beef with lean ground turkey. Gluten-free variations can use crushed gluten-free crackers instead of breadcrumbs.
