Description

A savory dish featuring tender beef marinated in a sweet and tangy sauce, perfect for quick weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or sesame oil for extra flavor)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl. Whisk until the cornstarch is dissolved.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are coated. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan, and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the beef and set it aside. In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour the marinade into the pan and bring it to a simmer. Cook until it thickens slightly.
  6. Return the beef to the pan, tossing to coat in the sauce. Stir in the green onions and red pepper flakes if desired.
  7. Serve immediately over rice or alongside steamed vegetables.

Notes

For maximum tenderness, slice the meat against the grain. Marinating even for just 10 minutes enhances flavor.
