Description

Crispy, flavorful chicken breaded with crushed pretzels for a delightful crunch and topped with a gooey mustard-cheddar sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups pretzels, crushed
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works great!)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the crushed pretzels and breadcrumbs.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs with the milk until smooth.
  4. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Dredge each piece in flour, then dip it into the egg mixture, followed by the pretzel-breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Arrange the coated chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly spray them with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  7. While baking, melt cheddar cheese and Dijon mustard together in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  8. Serve the chicken hot, drizzled with the cheese-mustard sauce.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, swap pretzels and breadcrumbs for gluten-free varieties. Consider serving with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.
