A comforting and budget-friendly meatloaf recipe that brings family together with its hearty flavors and textures.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (can substitute with oats)
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: spices like garlic powder or Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, milk, egg, and ketchup. Mix until just combined—don’t overdo it!
  3. Season with salt, pepper, and additional spices if desired.
  4. Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a greased baking dish.
  5. Spread a layer of ketchup on top for added flavor.
  6. Bake for approximately 50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  7. Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
