Description

A hearty Southern dish of black-eyed peas, perfect for family dinners or celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 can black-eyed peas, drained and rinsed
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy.
  2. Remove excess grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the pan.
  3. Add diced onion and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Toss in the black-eyed peas, season with salt and pepper, and mix well.
  6. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until heated through.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with green onions if desired.

Notes

For a lighter option, try turkey bacon or sautéed mushrooms for a vegetarian twist.
