Tender chicken cooked in a rich, tangy teriyaki sauce using a slow cooker. Perfect for gatherings and effortless weeknight meals.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Sesame seeds for garnishing
- Green onions for garnishing
Instructions
- Place the chicken in the slow cooker.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, and ginger.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, coating it thoroughly.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Once done, remove the chicken and shred it using two forks.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir it into the remaining sauce in the slow cooker. Cook on high for about 10 minutes until thickened.
- Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir until well-coated.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the chicken in the sauce for a couple of hours before cooking. Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
