Description

Tender chicken cooked in a rich, tangy teriyaki sauce using a slow cooker. Perfect for gatherings and effortless weeknight meals.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Sesame seeds for garnishing
  • Green onions for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the slow cooker.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, coating it thoroughly.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or until the chicken is cooked through.
  5. Once done, remove the chicken and shred it using two forks.
  6. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir it into the remaining sauce in the slow cooker. Cook on high for about 10 minutes until thickened.
  7. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir until well-coated.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the chicken in the sauce for a couple of hours before cooking. Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
