Description

A delightful baked pound cake that marries the rich taste of matcha with a classic buttery texture, perfect for various occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, experiment with different types of flour or substitute dairy milk with a plant-based alternative. Increase matcha powder for a more intense flavor.
