Description

A delightful Japanese dish featuring marinated chicken thighs glazed in a sweet and savory sauce, perfect for impressing any dinner guest.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mirin (or white wine)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped scallions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sugar, mirin, garlic, and ginger until well combined.
  2. Place the chicken thighs in a large zip-top bag and pour in the marinade. Seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium heat.
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  5. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, bring the reserved marinade to a boil for about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Drizzle the reduced marinade over the cooked chicken and allow it to soak in for a minute.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. This allows for deeper penetration of flavors.
