Description

A delicious blend of cheeseburger and grilled cheese, this sandwich features juicy beef patties, melted cheese, and crispy toasted bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar or American)
  • 1 onion (thinly sliced)
  • Butter (for grilling)
  • 4 slices bread (rye or sourdough)
  • Seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of butter to the pan.
  2. Form the ground beef into patties and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Sauté the sliced onions in the same pan until they begin to caramelize, then set aside.
  4. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, adding cheese on top to melt during the last minute of cooking.
  5. While the patties are cooking, butter the bread slices. Once the patties are done, set them aside and toast the bread on both sides in the same skillet until golden brown.
  6. Assemble your sandwich: place a patty on one slice of toasted bread, top with onions, then cover with another slice.
  7. Grill the assembled sandwich for an additional minute on each side until the bread is crisp, and the cheese is fully melted.

Notes

Pair with crispy fries or a fresh salad. For extra flavor, consider a side of tangy pickles or dipping sauce.
