Description

A melt-in-your-mouth braised beef brisket infused with rich flavors, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (or substitute with additional beef broth)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: carrots and potatoes for a one-pot meal

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Season the brisket generously with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket until browned on all sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pot, add the onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Add the beef broth, red wine, tomato paste, thyme, and any optional vegetables. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Return the brisket to the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven. Braise for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is fork-tender.
  7. Let the brisket rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing against the grain. Serve with the braising liquid spooned over the top.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, marinate the brisket in the braising liquid overnight. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
