Description
A delightful appetizer featuring creamy whipped feta topped with a drizzle of warm hot honey and served on crispy baguette slices.
Ingredients
- 8 oz feta cheese, crumbled
- 3 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2–1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to heat preference)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and lightly brush both sides with olive oil. Bake for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crisp. Allow cooling for a moment.
- In a blender, combine the crumbled feta, softened cream cheese, 1 tablespoon olive oil, lemon juice, and black pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed. Chill until ready for use.
- In a small saucepan, gently warm the honey with red pepper flakes over low heat for about 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, allowing it to infuse for 5–10 minutes. Strain if you prefer a smoother consistency.
- Spread a generous spoonful of whipped feta onto each crostini. Drizzle with warm hot honey and serve immediately for a delicious crunch.
Notes
For optimal texture, bake crostinis fresh and serve immediately after adding honey. Leftover whipped feta can be stored separately for up to a week.
