Description

A delightful blend of bright citrus and succulent chicken, this zesty orange chicken brings a burst of flavor to any dining table.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, diced
  • Juice of 2-3 fresh oranges
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Green onions or sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the diced chicken with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Once hot, add the chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  6. In the same skillet, pour in the sauce mixture and let it simmer.
  7. Dissolve cornstarch in a little water and add it to the sauce, stirring until it thickens.
  8. Return the chicken to the skillet, tossing it in the sauce to coat.
  9. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  10. Serve hot, optionally garnished with sliced green onions or sesame seeds.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the chicken in the orange juice mixture for a few hours or overnight. This dish pairs well with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables.
