A delightful blend of bright citrus and succulent chicken, this zesty orange chicken brings a burst of flavor to any dining table.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, diced
- Juice of 2-3 fresh oranges
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Green onions or sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the diced chicken with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once hot, add the chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, pour in the sauce mixture and let it simmer.
- Dissolve cornstarch in a little water and add it to the sauce, stirring until it thickens.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, tossing it in the sauce to coat.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve hot, optionally garnished with sliced green onions or sesame seeds.
Notes
For added flavor, marinate the chicken in the orange juice mixture for a few hours or overnight. This dish pairs well with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables.
